Retained executive search for a Head of AI Platform at an Australian enterprise with a mature data function and a growing AI practice. You'll own a 15–20 person organisation covering ML infrastructure, MLOps, data platform, and production observability.

The brief: make AI shippable at enterprise scale. This is a role for someone who has already done it once and is ready to do it again at the next level — not a promotion track role.

What you’ll do

  • Set the strategy and architecture for the ML platform across the enterprise
  • Lead three team leads (MLOps, Platform Eng, ML Infra) and their 15+ engineers
  • Partner with the Chief Data Officer and heads of business-unit AI to set priorities
  • Own the platform investment case — budget, headcount, 12/24-month roadmap
  • Represent AI platform maturity to the exec team and board

What you bring

  • 12+ years in engineering leadership, with at least 4 leading ML infra / MLOps / data platform teams
  • Track record of standing up or materially upgrading an enterprise ML platform
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and run multi-million-dollar investment cases
  • Technical depth — you can code-review your teams' work and debug production with them
